Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine or Rheumatology or Rehabilitation Medicine at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre Stanford Hall.

The post is for an enthusiastic and dedicated consultant delivering 10 programmed activities (PAs) per week of musculoskeletal rehabilitation to injured service personnel.

The Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC), which forms a key element of the Defence and National Rehabilitation Centre (DNRC) Project, is made up of multi-disciplinary teams encompassing both Civilian and Military staff who deliver concentrated residential rehabilitation for the more complex musculoskeletal disorders and injuries, including complex trauma, rehabilitation following neurological injury or illness and in-patient care for joint and soft tissue disease.

Stanford Hall sits within a 360 acre estate, providing a purpose built facility which has been specifically designed to combine the clinical and accommodation facilities within one complex. The facility will provide state of the art diagnostics such as Computer Assisted Rehabilitation Environment (CAREN) and MRI on site and will have close links with University of Birmingham Hospital Trust, the main receiving hospital for UK military casualties, facilitating easier joint care provision throughout the complex rehabilitation pathway.

The post holder is to deliver consultant-led, multi-disciplinary, musculoskeletal rehabilitation. This will involve the assessment and treatment of personnel from the Armed Forces with military training and trauma related musculo-skeletal injuries.

The post-holder will also be expected to drive the development of the clinical service, engage fully with the clinical governance processes of the unit and be responsible to the Officer Commanding Medical Division and DMRC Commanding Officer.

The postholder must have full registration with the GMC, and will have trained in and hold a CCT (or be within 6 months of completion) in Sport and Exercise Medicine or Rheumatology or Rehabilitation Medicine and be on the Specialist Register.

Experience in the rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries is essential and post-holder must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be IT literate.
