Specialty Doctor in Teenage and Young Adult (TYA) Oncology
Applications are invited for the post of Specialty Doctor in Teenage and Young Adult (TYA) Oncology and Haematology to commence as soon as possible. Please note that fixed-term appointments will be considered.
This post is suitable for doctors considering a career in Haematology, Oncology or Paediatrics. It may also be of interest to those interested in General practice or Palliative Care, and opportunities exist to work in a diagnostic clinic or alongside the Palliative Care team. In the past it has led to the acquisition of training posts in haematology, oncology and general practice as well as a Consultant post in Haematology.
You will work in close collaboration with the ward-based Junior Clinical Fellow, Specialty Registrars and Consultants in Haematology and in Oncology to provide the day to day care and management of patients aged 14-24 who are receiving chemotherapy, radiotherapy, blood and bone marrow transplantation and palliative care for haematological malignancies and solid tumours. The ward also contains a small day unit where teenage and young adult patients receive day treatments and blood product support. There will also be opportunity to see outpatients and participate in multidisciplinary clinics for the management of haematological or solid tumours which can be tailored to the suitable candidate. Participation in research and audit projects is strongly encouraged.

You must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at time of application is required.

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years.
