Permanent Rural GP/Rural Generalist/Rural Hospital Doctor
Hokianga Hospital is situated on the beautiful Hokianga Harbour in Northland, New Zealand. We are a community owned hospital and health service in a rural area serving largely Maori population of around 6,500 people
The Hokianga is steeped in cultural history and provides an opportunity for a relaxed life style with diverse recreational opportunities. You will also have an opportunity to absorb the history of this area where Kupe the first Maori explorer landed in New Zealand more than a thousand years ago, followed approximately 200 years ago by some of the first European settlers to New Zealand. Relaxed small communities of friendly people who have many recreational activities including tramping, fishing, sailing, sandboarding, forest walks and much more.
To extend our team we seek a Medical Practitioner with dual fellowship in General Practice and Rural Hospital Medicine, or with an interest in and/ or training towards these dual fellowships. This position would suit a doctor confident in working across the primary and secondary care settings.
We have a supportive collegial environment with a team of eight GPs working between the hospital and GP clinics. Opportunities exist to extend your practice in areas of interest that have relevance to the needs of the Hokianga.
