Consultant in Cardiology
Applications are invited for a Consultant Cardiologist post at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro.
This post is within the Cardiology Department, part of the Division of Medicine and Emergency Department of the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro. The post is a 10 + 2 PA position, working as a Consultant Cardiologist, participating in the general cardiology rota, covering the in-patient cardiology workload via a rotating ward based service week. An interest in CT coronary angiography would be desirable to support the planned delivery of NICE CG 95 in the near future.
The Royal Cornwall Hospital is a large District General Hospital and a teaching hospital for the Peninsula Medical School. The successful applicant will join five interventional and three non-interventional colleagues. The post will contribute to the continued delivery of access times for all cardiac procedures, and maintain current levels of specialist Consultant Cardiology input into in-patient and outpatient care throughout the Royal Cornwall Hospital.
The department has two dedicated cardiac catheter laboratories offering a primary PCI service and performs over 2,000 angiograms and over 800 interventions per year. Three consultants provide a complex device implantation service, with over 120 ICD, CRT-D and CRT-P device implants per year.
Advanced cardiac imaging in the form of TOE, Cardiac CT and Cardiac MRI are also delivered. The department is actively involved in the delivery of the education programme of the University of Exeter Medical School (UEMS).
