Through our 4,000 highly skilled staff and 10,000 fantastic volunteers Marie Curie provides care and support to terminally ill people and their families.

Our medical teams are a hugely important part of who we are and what we do and we now need to find an engaging and dynamic leader who can harness their continued commitment, and channel their energy and expertise.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced senior doctor to provide inspirational leadership in one of the UK’s most respected charities. We are looking for an experienced leader, with, ideally, significant knowledge and experience in palliative care and an eye for innovative clinical practice and new models of care.

The vital services we provide are delivered in our nine hospices, homes and in community settings, and demand is growing - reflecting both demographic changes and the lengthening of the terminal phase of a person’s life. Moreover, we are now operating in a multi-stakeholder environment with an ever-tightening financial envelope. As such, the nature of our support and how it is best delivered needs to adapt to current and future challenges.

The Executive Medical Director therefore also needs to be a strategic thinker, able to ensure, develop and deliver consistently high-quality and cost-effective medical services. This is a wonderful opportunity to apply your palliative care knowledge and make a lasting impact as a leader on a national platform. You will join a highly effective executive team. Working together we will build on our rich heritage and shape how end of life care is improved for thousands of people.

We have a strong commitment to equality and diversity in Marie Curie and would encourage applications from candidates who are currently under-represented at senior levels in our workforce – in particular people from BME groups and people with disabilities.

The closing date for applications is 9.00 am on Friday 6 July 2018.
