St Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the leading acute Trusts in the North West of England. We provide a full range of acute adult services to our local population of circa 350,000 and provide tertiary services across a much wider area in the North West, North Wales and Isle of Man. We are a Major Trauma Unit and the Mersey Regional Burns Unit.

The critical care unit is amongst the longest established critical care units in the UK. The clinical team is led by a multidisciplinary consultant body comprising of emergency medicine/consultant in critical care, four consultants in critical care/anaesthesia, a consultant in critical care /emergency medicine & a consultant in critical care and in AMU.
We are a team of 8 Critical Care Consultants including the new appointee. The Critical Care Consultant does have a dedicated desk space, computer and secretarial support. We have two Higher ICM trainees and a Clinical Fellow as well.
The rota is covered by eleven trainees and there are always two trainees covering the on call period 24/7.
Applicants should have full GMC registration and Licence to Practise, and be on the Specialist Register or within six months of receiving CCT at the time of interview.
