Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust are a committed multi- professional team who provide much-valued hospital and community services to residents in South East London. The Trust has built a good reputation as a place to enjoy job satisfaction and develop professional skills and experiences. Our people value the opportunity to work in a supportive culture and, we ensure our team are well rewarded for their contribution. By joining us now, you can play a role in shaping our organisation that continues to put patient and client care first. Whatever the challenges ahead, we’re prepared to face them as one team.
The Trust is seeking to appoint five Consultants to work in Acute Medicine at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), Woolwich which is a part of the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.
We would encourage applications from acute physicians and general physicians. We would also be willing to consider adapting the job plan to accommodate a small amount of special interest work for someone with a CCT in GIM and another specialty. We would encourage such applicants to contact the consultants listed below to discuss this pre-application.
Successful applicants will be involved in the development of the acute medical service and will be expected to participate in pathway redesign and service development. This post will be based at QEH. The appointees will join a team of 10 acute physicians currently covering a 39-bed acute ward and an Ambulatory Care Unit.
We are building a new clinical unit at QEH which will be co-located with the emergency department. This will be central to our improvement plans, and will give us flexible beds to cope with winter pressures in 2018/19. We have significant plans to improve the emergency pathway over 2018/19, so we can provide more timely treatment for patients. Our plans include:
- Continuing to improve services for older patients with a range of healthcare conditions, following the opening of the frailty ward at the hospital in 2017
- Extending our ambulatory care services on both sites, providing more treatment in an outpatient setting
- Working with partners to improve the discharge of patients from hospital.
