Chief Registrar Weston Area Heath Trust
Keen to share a forward vision and work with a sea view?
Weston Area Heath Trust is a small acute trust in Weston super Mare with a big vision. Last year we employed our first Chief Registrar to help us develop leadership amongst our junior medical workforce. The first post holder has delivered enormous benefits to the whole organisation with her commitment to change, and ability to communicate issues across the breadth of our organisation from ward round to board room. We are now looking for a replacement for 12 to 24 months dynamic doctor with the desire to not only describe problems but be part of delivering solutions.
The post works closely with the Medical Director and provides personal mentorship and exposure to all aspects of medical leadership, management and governance, both at a trust and system-wide level. Once established the Chief Registrar has a broad remit to help engagement with our medical staff, promote safety and quality improvement within the trust and to aid the delivery of our learning from deaths process.
If the applicant wishes, the post allows for some clinical work (up to a day per week) which can be delivered within Weston General Hospital or (by negotiation) at University Hospitals Bristol NHS trust. If desired there is an option to participate in on-call at a ST3+ level.
The successful applicant will be a dynamic doctor with the desire to not only describe problems but be part of delivering solutions. They should possess excellent communication skills, a desire to learn more about how hospitals are managed and to develop as a leader. The post is modelled on the Royal College of Physicians Chief Registrar idea and the trust is committed to ensuring the Chief Registrar has access to appropriate peer support, mentorship and external professional development (The current Chief Registrar is enrolled in the NHS leadership Academy Mary Seacole programme).
Weston-super Mare is enjoying a period of investment and development but still remains an affordable place to live. As well as the usual attractions of a seaside town it is surrounded by picturesque countryside.
