East London NHS Foundation Trust has a focus on improving the experience of patients, carers and our staff. For the last two years we have been developing a special quality improvement programme to provide our clinical staff, patients and carers with the skills to transform our services.

A full-time (10 sessions) consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist is required for the CAMHS Adolescent Mental Health Team (AMHT), based in Hackney, East London.

City & Hackney CAMHS is one of five community CAMH services and two community eating disorder services in ELFT, which together with the Coborn inpatient service, provide assessment and treatment of young people with mental health disorders up to the age of 18 years.

All ELFT CAMH Services comprise a number of multidisciplinary teams based upon care pathways including: Adolescent Mental Health Team; Emotional & Behavioural Team(s); Neurodevelopmental Team (Learning Disability and Autism +/- ADHD); Targeted Team (in City & Hackney this is the Outreach/Conduct pathway)

The AMHT provides assessment and treatment to young people presenting with significant and enduring mental health problems including psychosis, bipolar disorder, severe depression and OCD, as well as providing additional support to some high risk young people in crisis. There is a focus on providing targeted care in the community and preventing admission.

You’ll provide senior clinical leadership to their multi-disciplinary team, to provide psychiatric assessment and treatment where clinically appropriate, to provide case management of high risk presentations as an alternative to admission and to facilitate the development of the team and wider service.

We encourage and will support applicants to undertake formal training in Quality Improvement (QI) methodology and take a lead on QI development within their respective services.

We were inspected by CQC in June 2016 and received an outstanding rating for the Trust as a whole and for Community and inpatient CAMHS specifically. We have been rated as the best place to work in mental health in the UK by the HSJ.

Applications will be welcomed from candidates included in or eligible for the Specialist Register or within six months of obtaining their CCT.
