Consultant in Geriatrics and Consultant in Stroke Neurology
Providing the excellent care, which we would expect, for our own families; Join us on the south coast and help us deliver this vision to our local population and we will recognise your unique contribution with a job plan individually tailored to your skills and experience.
The Older Peoples Medicine Department at Royal Bournemouth Hospital provides facilities for ambulatory care, acute and complex care needs as well as an acute stroke unit across six wards with a day hospital and outpatients at Christchurch Hospital. We work closely with the acute medical unit and increasingly with our partners in Poole General Hospital and in the community liaising with Dorset Healthcare.
A comprehensive clinical services review has determined that Royal Bournemouth hospital will become the main hospital for emergency care in East Dorset and planned care will be delivered from Poole hospital. We are reconfiguring our service to deliver this by establishing a single hyper acute stroke unit for East Dorset to augment our SSNAP A-rated stroke service, and to maximise the number of our patients being treated in an ambulatory setting. We are also looking to expand the current provision of neurology services within our trust.
We have a number of specialty doctors in our directorate as well as consultant nurses and nurse practitioners who work alongside our extensive multidisciplinary teams of nurses, therapists, social workers and administrative staff. For this role we are looking for established consultants looking to relocate to our beautiful south coast or for trainees approaching CCT who may wish to develop a subspecialty interest.
You’ll be given the time and opportunity to develop interests, which complement your current clinical skills. Depending on your prior experience and specialist registration we will aim to facilitate cross specialty working should you wish.
