Consultant in General Surgery with special interest in Upper GI
To support the increasing demand across the Trust, we are inviting applications for two consultant surgeons, one is a consultant general surgeon with an interest in upper GI surgery to be initially based at our Ealing Hospital site. At Ealing Hospital the general surgical service is provided by specialists in upper gastrointestinal and colorectal and breast surgery. There are both general surgery clinics and specialist UGI clinics on site. There is a weekly UGI MDT and dedicated UGI theatre lists.
The department has an active research interest in benign UGI and hepatobiliary and laparoscopic surgery. The current on call rota is 1 in 7 and it is envisaged that following these appointments we will be able to move to a 1 in 8 rota. Currently we have an established ‘Hot Cholecystectomy’ service which is delivered by the UGI surgeons. We currently have service arrangements for all UGI and HPB cancers to be referred to Imperial Healthcare NHS trust for their operative and oncological management. A wide range of Benign HPB and UGI surgical procedures are carried out ranging from anti reflux surgery to complex benign HPB pathology including gallstone disease and pancreatitis.
