Consultant in Palliative Medicine - Full-Time or Part-Time
We are looking to appoint a Consultant in Palliative Medicine at Hospice in the Weald, Tunbridge Wells, Kent with sessions at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.
Hospice in the Weald is purpose-built with 15 beds, in a glorious rural setting. We have a busy In-Patient Ward, including day case procedures, large Hospice in the Home Service including Outpatient clinics, Hospice Day Service, Counselling and Support Service and well-resourced Training Centre.
We are currently building the country’s first ever “Cottage Hospice”, an exciting and innovative service where families will continue to care for the patient in a supported environment. This is due to open in Spring 2019.
You will work alongside Hospice Consultant and the consultant in Palliative Medicine at the Trust, Specialty Registrar, GP trainee and three Specialty Doctors supported by junior staff and a full multidisciplinary team. The clinical workload will be shared between the two Consultants in a flexible
way that best fits your skills, experience and working pattern.
It is expected that you will be the lead for teaching within the medical team and take a pro-active approach to this while also supporting the other Consultant with audit and research activity. 3 SPAs are provided in the job plan to allow for this and Mentoring will be encouraged for newly appointed
The successful candidate should have completed Specialist Training and be entered on the Specialist Register of the GMC or have a CCT date within 6 months of the date of interview.
The salary will be based on the current NHS Consultant pay scale and Clinical Excellence Awards are honoured by the Hospice.
