Consultant Ophthalmologist with a special interest in Glaucoma
Applications are invited for the permanent post of Consultant Ophthalmologist with a special interest in Glaucoma.
This is permanent replacement post which will enhance the current establishment of NHS and academic staff of the Department of Ophthalmology. The successful appointee will be expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and clinical audit. They will be required to undertake management duties and work in a multidisciplinary team.
The appointee will have a principle interest in Glaucoma and she/he will be expected to contribute to the general Ophthalmology service on the Leicester Royal Infirmary (LRI) site and associated community hospitals. Participation on the on call rota is essential.
The appointee will join an active and enthusiastic team of 26 Ophthalmologists, both generalist and sub-specialist Ophthalmology services are provided within the UHL.
The Ophthalmology Service in UHL is currently provided by 26 Consultants, specialising in the areas of Medical retina, Uveitis, Oculoplastics, Lacrimal, Cornea, Glaucoma, Vitreoretinal surgery, Neuro Ophthalmology and Paediatric Ophthalmology.
Applicants must already be on the GMC specialist register or within 6 months of the interview date have a certificate of completion of specialist training.
As this post is regulated by the Protection of Children Act 1999, The Criminal Justice Courts Act 2000 and / or the Care Standards Act 2000 an enhanced police criminal records disclosure will be requested by the Trust in the event of a successful application.
