Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Haematologist with a particular interest in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia & Lymphoma, based at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.

The Haematology Directorate comprises a Level 4 cancer centre with an active bone marrow transplantation programme, the Arthur Bloom Haemophilia Comprehensive Care Centre, and a service to two local district general hospitals.

The service is supported by highly sophisticated diagnostics within the Directorate of Laboratory Medicine and the extensive research and development activity of the Academic Department of Haematology.

The appointee will work closely with the current Haematologists in the care of patients with malignant disorders contributing to the in-patient attending service. There will be outpatient and day unit sessions and a contribution to the on-call rota.

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is situated in a vibrant, easily accessible part of Wales which combines the best of city life, coast and countryside all within easy reach.

The Health Board is recognised as a teaching centre of excellence in a wide range of clinical services.

Academic interests will be encouraged; research and teaching in collaboration with Cardiff University’s School of Medicine will be expected.

Although this post is full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements.

Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview.

You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales. The basic salary range for this post is £74,393 per annum to £96,583 per annum plus a further £26,148 per annum available in Commitment Awards.

Applicants must ensure they provide the names and contact details of referees covering at least the last three years of their employment/training history in full. In addition, applicants who are currently or have most recently been employed as a substantive Consultant or as a Locum Consultant in post for more than 12 months must also provide the name of their Medical Director as an additional referee.
