We require an enthusiastic Consultant Obstetrician with experience of and an interest in obstetric risk management and governance. We need the successful candidate to work as lead obstetrician for risk management bringing your existing to assist the governance team. - Risk management, governance
- Acute inpatient and outpatient obstetric practice
- Resident and non-resident obstetric emergency and labour ward duties (non-resident on calls overnight)

The Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust is a forward thinking Trust which acknowledges both our strengths and our weaknesses. This post will strengthen our maternity team and support governance and leadership going forward. The post is for 10 PA’s comprising of 8 DCC’s and 2 SPA’s with the option of further flexible Professional Activity sessions.
You will be joining a team of 13 Consultants in a busy secondary care Trust in Shropshire.
The Trust is comprised of two main hospitals 17 miles apart, the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford and the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital in Shrewsbury.
The Consultant Obstetric Unit and In-patient Gynaecology unit along with ambulatory care and outpatient services are based at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford. In addition there are antenatal clinics, gynaecology clinics and day surgery at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. A small number of clinics are also conducted in the community setting throughout Shropshire and Mid Wales.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is staffed with 13 full-time Consultants (3 of which support feto-maternal medicine), 2 full time Associate Specialists, 6 Specialty Doctors, 6 ST3+ trainees, 7 ST1/2 trainees and 2 FY1s.
Our Hospitals are located in Shrewsbury and Telford and are brimming with exemplary teams of hardworking individuals.
It is also a particularly exciting time to join the Trust as we have recently started working collaboratively with the Virginia Mason institute in Seattle.
