Purely Clinical Consultant in Emergency Medicine doing 1-4   PAs
BSUH NHS Trust (Major Trauma Centre)
Looking for Minimum of 1 Appointee

Emergency Medicine evolves fast. At BSUH we are ahead of the game with a team of dynamic and enthusiastic colleagues, exploring different ways of working and expanding our departments, services and staff. We are not the finished article, but in the UK we are leading the way. Come and join us and help mould our future.

We treat 130,000 patients a year from a Code Red polytrauma brought in by one of our HEMS doctors to a minor injury. Close links with Brighton and Sussex Medical School means you can also inspire new generations of doctors with the excitement of what we do. Top-rated by the Higher Trainee survey, we have an increasing number of Registrars and Associate Specialists. We also have a new cadre of 32 new non training junior clinical fellow posts who provide 75% clinical work and 25% project time. This has helped us recruit some of the best possible non training junior doctors.

We have 24/7 consultant delivered care and uniquely have found a way to make this sustainable. We self-roster with an annualised 42/52 week contract based on PAs which allows flexibility, as well as  internal cover and shift over-runs.
The south coast is a great place to work with the beach is a five minute walk from the hospital and the South Down’s National Park  a five-minute drive. With Arts and café culture, it is a great place to bring up kids.

We are developing a sustainable workforce able to enjoy delivering care not just now in 2018 but in 20 years’ time. We welcome applications from those wishing to pursue part-time work as our flexible rota accommodates unusual rota patterns. Applicants should possess full GMC registration, FCEM (or equivalent) and either already be on the Specialist Register or be within six months of receiving their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at the time of interview. We welcome established Consultants who are looking for a new challenge and way of life.

This post is a unique opportunity to allow consultants to pursue a portfolio career. We are offering posts holders the opportunity to be a purely clinical consultant with no non-clinical responsibilities. The hours are annualised and so ideal for people who want to work in blocks and pursue other interest or who have other fixed commitments elsewhere and can only make clinical commitments on a particular day of the week.

Please refer to the person specification in the job description with regards to CCT requirements.

In addition to supplying us with your referee details for the last 3 years please also provide us with the contact details of your Responsible Officer for Appraisial and Revalidation

In the interest of equal opportunities, we want to make sure that information about candidates is provided in the same format so all applicants should fill in the standard application form on the NHS Jobs website and attach their cv.
