Due to growth in services, particularly PET-CT, applications are invited for two permanent Consultant Radiologist posts with special interest in PET-CT/Nuclear Medicine.

The QEHB Imaging Department provides a comprehensive service accepting both regional and supra-regional diagnostic and interventional referrals for a wide range of clinical specialties. This reflects the Trust’s position as a provider of secondary and tertiary medical care. The Trust also supports a large number of clinical trials.

QEHB hosts the regional PET Centre with one of the busiest PET-CT scanners in the country (up to 5,000 scans pa). Planning is under way for a second scanner. The Nuclear Medicine Department also performs a wide range of diagnostic imaging (the majority SPECT-CT), in-patient and out-patient therapies and non-imaging tests, and supports numerous clinical trials. We have an on-site radiopharmacy. The PET capability will be expanding this year with on-site production of Gallium-68 radiopharmaceuticals, and we have started the introduction of contrast enhanced PET-CT.

Duties will include general nuclear medicine and PET-CT reporting. Experience in radionuclide therapies will be welcomed but is not essential. In addition to the specialist radionuclide aspect there will be a requirement to contribute to the general diagnostic radiology workload of the department and on-call. There will also be an opportunity and encouragement to develop or maintain a subspecialty interest.

This post provides an opportunity to gain experience as part of an established and proactive Consultant Radiologist team.

Applicants must be on the GMC specialist register for Radiology.

Applicants are invited to contact Dr Silvia Tomas Hernandez, Lead Nuclear Medicine Radiologist silvia.tomashernandez@uhb.nhs.uk Nuclear Medicine Radiologist Dr Rakesh Gadvi rakesh.gadvi@uhb.nhs.uk or Dr Steve Colley Clinical Service Lead for Radiology on 0121 371 2374 steve.colley@uhb.nhs.uk
