Consultant in Emergency Medicine
UHBFT is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and clinically focused individual as a Consultant in Emergency Medicine. The appointee will join the existing dynamic consultant team comprising 14 consultants (11.9 WTE) who are committed to improving and advancing the quality of Emergency Care and training available locally and nationally. This appointment reflects a commitment by the Trust to invest in enhanced acute care including expansion of the ‘Front door’ services and integrated working with Acute Medicine/Ambulatory Care.
In the last year the Emergency Department won a BMJ award, HSJ award and was recognised in two categories in the RCEM awards.
UHBFT comprises the Emergency Departments of Bristol Royal Infirmary and Bristol Children’s Hospital, this post will be based in the adult BRI ED service.
UHBFT is one of the busiest EDs in the South West seeing over 70,000 adult and 40,000 paediatric attendances per year. The attendances are of high acuity and reflect the broad spectrum attending an inner city ED which also serves a large tertiary referral centre for many specialities such as cardiology and cardiac surgery with 24 hour PCI available.
There is separate 24-hour Middle Grade cover, a 24/7 Emergency nurse Practitioner service and an established physiotherapy practitioner service within the department.
UHBFT ED is an academic department with an active research programme which the appointee would be afforded the opportunity to participate in.
