Palliative Care Consultant - Locum or Substantive

Oakhaven Hospice serves the community of the New Forest, providing in-patient, day hospice, community care and hospital support services for patients with life-limiting illnesses and support to their families/carers.

Due to retirement, we will have a vacancy for a Palliative Care Consultant at Oakhaven Hospice starting as soon as possible. You will join our specialist multi-disciplinary team, which includes another Consultant, two Associate Specialists, two Specialty Doctors and a Clinical Assistant, supporting our patients across the New Forest area.
Responsibilities will include the clinical care of patients in all hospice settings including the community and hospital, as well as the provision of advice and guidance to GPs and families, working closely with and supporting our own clinical colleagues. Involvement in education, research and leadership responsibilities will also form part of this role. The post holder will also be able to develop areas of specialist interest.
A high level of clinical competence and excellent communication, organisational and teaching skills are essential, together with a thorough understanding of, and commitment to, the principals of Clinical Governance. Applicants must be on or within six months of their CCT at the time of interview.
While Oakhaven is an independent Trust, its clinical service is fully integrated with the local Health Trust and the successful candidate will need to hold an honorary contract with the local trust.
