The Maxillofacial Department are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, forward-thinking Consultant Maxillofacial Surgeon to join the multi disciplinary team. This is a replacement post and we are looking for an individual who is an outstanding clinician and leader with a drive and vision to create a quality patient centred service. The salary scale is £76,761 to £103,490.

The Role

  • Join a team of specialists providing a Maxillofacial Surgical service at PHT
  • Undertake inpatient surgery as a part of the Head & Neck MDT and provide a spectrum of maxillofacial care and contribute to the 1:6 on call rota.

  • Provide outpatient clinics and surgical sessions under local anaesthetic in support of the wide range of maxillofacial surgical care provided within the department

  • Give on-site support and input as needed to the teams in other related PHT specialties

  • Maintain and develop local services by supporting innovation and best practice

  • Provide training and support for junior staff.

We’re looking for:

  • An enthusiastic and motivated colleague.

  • Full GMC registration (GDC optional) with a licence to practice.

  • Experienced in and capable of delivering all aspects of Maxillofacial Surgery

The Department:

Maxillofacial Surgery is based within the Head and Neck Clinical Services Centre, which comprises the Departments of: ENT and Audio-Vestibular Medicine, Audiology, Maxillo-Facial Surgery, Ophthalmology and Dermatology. The MFU has a team of specialists providing orthodontics, oral surgery and restorative dentistry as part of dental and surgical MDT care. We have a fully equipped MFU laboratory with highly skilled specialist technicians providing the support for rehabilitation post surgery and complex care.

Queen Alexandra Hospital is a large modern acute medical facility with a state of the art ITU, large theatre complex and an on-site Radiotherapy and Oncology centre. The ENT Department provides a full range of emergency and elective ENT services. These include: Specialist Otology (including cochlear implantation, bone anchored hearing aids and middle ear prostheses), Specialist Rhinology, Paediatric ENT, Head and Neck Surgery, Facial Plastic Surgery and Skull Base Surgery. The Head and Neck Unit is housed on Ward D8. This is a dedicated unit for all Head & Neck inpatients with an ambulatory service for emergency care.

The main MFU outpatient department is situated at the QAH site with the consultants and managerial staff sharing a modern and integrated office facility close to the outpatient department. We run peripheral out patient clinics across South East Hampshire, West Sussex sites and the Isle of Wight. The post holder may be required to undertake such peripheral clinics.
