This post offers scope for teaching links within the Universities of Edinburgh, St Andrews and Dundee. Flexible working arrangements complement the good work life balance that this mixed rural-urban area offers, with ready access Dundee and Edinburgh, good local schools and economical housing.
Within Fife, there is a consultant body of around 30 consultants in the Division of Psychiatry, with specialists in General Adult Psychiatry, Forensic, Learning Disabilities, CAMHS, Substance Misuse and Eating Disorders as well as Old Age Psychiatry. The On-call commitment for out of hours is shared between all consultants, with the exception of CAMHS consultants and is currently 1 in 18.
There is support from junior medical staff from the South East Scotland rotational training scheme or General Practitioner Specialist Training scheme and you will be expected to take part in teaching. All junior medical posts in Fife are fully accredited by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Old Age Psychiatry in Fife is currently undergoing an exciting period of service development and all posts offer the opportunity to be involved in shaping mental health care for Older Adults in the region.
Post D is a part time (7 session) Old Age Psychiatry sector post covering the Levenmouth area of Central Fife. Inpatient beds are at Stratheden Hospital, Cupar and the post is supported by multidisciplinary colleagues including CPN, Intensive Home Treatment, Day Hospital and Post Diagnostic Support services as well as Psychology and Occupational Therapy.
