We seek to appoint a whole time Consultant, (10 PAs), in Adult Cardiac Anaesthesia and Critical Care. This is a replacement post. Cardiac Anaesthetists are based at the Bristol Heart Institute, part of University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will contribute to the adult cardiac anaesthetic team and provide an on-call service for adult cardiac surgery and the 24 bed cardiac surgical intensive care unit on a 1:12 basis. The post holder will be expected to work in close collaboration with the consultant cardiac surgeons and cardiologists. The candidate should possess, or be in the process of obtaining, certification in Trans-oesophageal Echocardiography.

The candidate would join a sub group of Cardiac Intensivists responsible for the Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit, and will require dual CCTs in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine.

The Bristol Heart Institute performs 1500 surgical cases per annum. It is a designated centre for ACHD, cardiology and cardiac surgery. It provides the regional PCI and trans-catheter valve implantation services, as well as tertiary services for arrhythmia intervention.

The contract will be held with the University Hospitals Bristol NHS FT.
