It’s a great time to be joining our team as we progress plans to join with our colleagues at Luton & Dunstable University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to become a new Foundation Trust.

The Trust Boards of Bedford Hospital and Luton and Dunstable University Hospital have agreed to explore plans to merge and form one NHS Trust later this year. Under the umbrella of the single NHS Trust, both hospitals will retain their identity and individual hospital names. All key services will remain on both sites and will be managed as single teams across the whole Bedfordshire catchment area. This will bring many benefits for patients including much improved continuity of care.

Applications are invited for 2 Consultant posts in General Radiology based at Bedford Hospital. These are full time replacement General Radiology posts mainly for cross sectional imaging but ability to perform basic interventional procedures such as guided biopsies and drainages will be an advantage.

We encourage interest in, or development of interest in, specialty areas to complement and expand our currently available clinical specialty coverage. There is considerable scope and opportunity for further development of more advanced image guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures related to various clinical subspecialties.

The successful applicants are expected to share in the general radiology work of the department including a 1 in 10 on call rota and may be involved in MDTs of their area of subspecialty or clinical interest.

In addition you will play a supervisory/advisory role to Radiographers and other non-Radiologists staff in the department as may be necessary from time to time.

This post is funded for 10 PAs but part time applicants will be considered.
