Consultant Anaesthetist with an interest in Intensive Care
Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust is expanding its Anaesthesia and Critical Care Services.
Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Anaesthetist with a specialist interest in Intensive Care Medicine at North Devon District Hospital. This post is offered on a whole-time basis (10PA) but suitably-qualified applicants who are unable to work full-time will be considered.
The successful applicant will join a team of 20 consultants who are supported by a team of experienced associate specialists, specialty grades, fellows, trust doctors, core trainees and admin staff to provide comprehensive anaesthesia and critical care services for the population of North Devon.
Our clinicians maintain a broad spectrum of clinical skills and have a work-life balance like nowhere else. The acute hospital is big enough to provide real opportunities for leadership and innovation, yet small enough to make prompt, effective change a reality. Outside of work, you’ll find our staff out surfing, walking, cycling and generally enjoying the amazing scenery that Devon has to offer. Beautiful beaches are just a stone’s throw away from the hospital.
We perform highly against clinical standards, have a proven track record of staff satisfaction and meet our financial targets, so our doctors can focus on giving great care to patients.
So if you would like to combine an outdoor life in North Devon with a challenging clinical career, come and join us (see the video link ‘What’s it like working at NDHT’ for more details.)
Our values guide everything we do. At all times, we aim to:
- Demonstrate compassion
- Strive for excellence
- Respect diversity
- Act with integrity
- Listen and support others
Our teams of care professionals work with patients and their families to support peoples’ independence, health and wellbeing. We provide support to avoid hospital admissions, and if an admission is necessary, we try to make each patient’s stay in hospital as short and effective as possible before working with them on a safe discharge home.
According to many clinical targets, we rate as one of the best performing non-foundation trusts in England, because we treat patients in line with national waiting time standards, have very few hospital-acquired infections and meet our four-hour waiting times for urgent care. We have a huge range of clinical expertise that we share across professional spheres to ensure people get world-class care when they need it.
In our most recent staff survey, our staff voted us in the top 10% of NHS provider organisations to work for and we also came out as the top provider in the South West for our overall results. Our patients (through the Friends and Family Test) regularly report an average of over 95% satisfaction with our services.
Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. For further information and to self-assess the likelihood of obtaining a Certificate of Sponsorship, please visit the UK Border Agency website. Note: we will be unable to obtain Tier 2 sponsorship for Bank positions.
