This is a new post to join our current Clinical Microbiologist. The Clinical Microbiologist team of two is based at Whangarei Hospital and provides a service for Northland including working closely with the Regional Hospitals in Dargaville, Bay of Islands and Kaitaia servicing a population of 150,000.
The role involves both laboratory and extensive clinical advice provision, working closely with colleagues across the province, as well as a strong focus on Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology.
Northland is the northern-most province of New Zealand, extending some 300 x 800 kilometres and covering 12,600 square kilometres. It boasts a subtropical climate and some of the most scenic and exciting coastal areas in New Zealand. The opportunities for outdoor activities, water sports and fishing are superb, including diving at our world famous Poor Knights Islands reserve.
If you are a qualified Clinical Microbiologist eligible to gain either locum tenens and /or vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand, this is the opportunity you have been waiting for!
Recently qualified consultant Clinical Microbiologists who are open to adapting their practice to best serve our community will be seriously considered.
