Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist
We are a financially stable progressive mental health and community services trust with very strong clinical leadership at all levels of the organisation.
The trust has a focus on improving the experience of patients, carers and our staff. For the past four years we have been developing a special quality improvement programme that provides our clinical staff, patients and carers with skills to transform our services. We believe that our staff are the organisation’s greatest asset and are the best agents for change.
In 2015 the Trust became responsible for mental health services in Luton and Bedfordshire. In 2016 it was graded as Outstanding by the CQC, as Provider of the Year by the Health Service Journal, as well as being rated the best place to work in Mental Health.
A part time (8 Programmed Activities) Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist is required for the Tower Hamlets Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, based in East London.
You’ll join one of the Emotional and Behavioural teams at Tower Hamlets CAMHS. This post will have a special interest in Neurodevelopmental disorders and the successful applicant will contribute to the Neuro-developmental Disorders team. You may have Clinical Team Lead responsibilities.
Tower Hamlets CAMHS is one of five community CAMH services in ELFT which together with an inpatient service (the Coborn Centre) provide assessment and treatment of young people with mental health disorders up to the age of 18 years.
All ELFT CAMH Services comprise a number of multidisciplinary teams based upon care pathways including:
• Adolescent Mental Health Team
• Emotional & Behavioural Teams
• Neurodevelopmental Team (Learning Disability and Autism +/- ADHD)
• Targeted Team (in Tower Hamlets this is the CAMHS in Social Care Team).
In Tower Hamlets, there is also a CAMHS Paediatric Liaison Team based at the Royal London Hospital.
Tower Hamlets CAMHS has two Emotional and Behavioural Teams, one focussing upon internalising disorders, the other on externalising disorders. Allocation to one of these teams will be negotiated between the new post-holder and existing Consultant group. You’ll be expected to provide senior clinical leadership to their multi-disciplinary teams, to provide psychiatric assessment and treatment where clinically appropriate, monitoring use of medication and other treatments as appropriate.
This post has been created as a result of two of the existing full time consultants reducing their hours to part time on a job share basis.
