Applications are invited for these new full-time posts at this 641 bed acute hospital serving a local population of approximately 400,000. These appointments will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of service for the 2003 consultant contract (England).

This is an exciting opportunity to apply for these newly created posts to support the increased workload, expansion and development of the Gastroenterology Directorate. Appointees will join a team of eight Gastroenterology Consultants working alongside a diverse Multi-Disciplinary Team providing a comprehensive and innovative Gastroenterology Service.

These newly created Consultant posts support the increase in emergency and elective workload for gastroenterology and endoscopy. They are also integral to the delivery of a Needs Based Care (NBC) model to be introduced across the Medicine Division where timely allocation is predicated on a patient’s clinical need.

Applicants with a sub-specialty interest applicable to a DGH Hospital are encouraged to apply. Areas that we wish to further develop and provide increased resilience include oesophageal physiology, capsule endoscopy, nutrition, oesophageal EMR and other therapeutic endoscopy and
bowel scope.

The Trust received an overall Good for services at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital following its CQC inspection, and was recently announced the only hospital in the country to meet all of the key targets.

The Hospital has excellent access to the surrounding areas with easy access to central London and the rural Chilterns. The rural areas include many attractive villages and towns within easy reach of the Hospital including St Albans and Harpenden. Excellent schools are found nearby. There is also very good access to the Midlands and North, by road or rail via the M1 and A1, and London Luton Airport is within fifteen minutes of the hospital. Residence is required within ten miles by road or thirty minutes travelling time of the Hospital.

Applicants must be fully registered on the UK General Medical Council’s Specialist Register and have MRCP. Specialist Registrars may apply if within six months of CCT. Candidates unable for personal reasons to work full-time are also invited to apply.

An informal visit may be arranged by appointment with Dr Anthony Griffiths, Clinical Lead for Gastroenterology or Dr Elliot Tash, Clinical Director for Endoscopy by contacting 01582 497478.
