Clinical Fellowship Post (Equivalent of Specialist Trainee 6+) in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine
Fellow in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine and Long Term Ventilation (invasive and non-invasive ventilation).
12 months commencing September 2018
You are invited for the above post for paediatric respiratory fellows to join the respiratory unit at GOSH. The post has an area of specific expertise in which you will gain experience and training but also allows exposure and service delivery to the wider respiratory unit at GOSH.
The GOSH Respiratory Service is one of the largest tertiary and quaternary referral units for complex lung disease in the UK. There is a busy inpatient and outpatient service with weekly clinics for asthma, cystic fibrosis and complex lung disease. There are established teams caring for children with sleep disorders, long term ventilation, CF, pulmonary hyper-tension, lung transplantation, and tracheal surgery, and non-invasive ventilation, rare and chronic respiratory disorders. There is close liaison with the intensive care units, cardiology, spinal surgery and the neuro-muscular teams.
Clinical duties for the Respiratory Fellows listed above will include a clear focus on the nominated area of subspecialty as well as input to the running of the respiratory unit to include in-patient management, respiratory referrals from within GOSH and respiratory out-patient clinics. This post would suit trainees in paediatrics or respiratory paediatrics who wish to gain additional subspecialty experience at GOSH or applicants who wish to subspecialise in paediatric respiratory medicine. Paediatricians who have completed training and who wish to gain additional experience prior to taking up a consultant post are also encouraged to apply. You must have MRCPCH or equivalent and be fully registered with the General Medical Council. Some experience or knowledge of paediatric respiratory medicine is helpful. The posts provides ample opportunity for training and well-supervised, high quality research. All posts are EWTD compliant. The posts are for 12 months in the first instance, with opportunity to extend the contract and/or rotate between Fellows’ posts when appropriate and subject to appraisal and vacancies.
