Consultant Neonatologist- Two posts
New born Intensive Care Unit
St Mary’s Hospital
Health care in Manchester is changing. In October 2017 Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM) merged to create a new Foundation Trust, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT). In 12-18 months this will also include the services currently provided by North Manchester General Hospital.
Neonatal care will be provided by an integrated team as a single Managed Clinical Service with facilities on each of the sites including Wythenshawe, North Manchester General, and Saint Mary’s Hospitals. These changes will make a real difference to the health outcomes and quality of life for the people of Manchester, and provide a wealth of career opportunities for motivated clinicians.
We are looking for a two Consultants to join our enthusiastic
neonatal team, and applications are invited for one substantive and one locum Consultant Neonatal post. The locum post is for 12 months in the first instance. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in one of the largest neonatal services in England catering for both neonatal medical and surgical infants. The post holders will be mainly based on the New born Intensive care unit on the St Mary’s Hospital Site, but will be part of a wider team of consultants providing care across the city of Manchester. We have collaboration with obstetrics, fetal medicine and paediatrics as all services co-located providing the required patient and family support when required.
There are strong links to the University of Manchester and an ethos of clinical excellence and research. We are looking for forward thinking neonatologists who have a commitment to working within a strong and supportive team.
Applicants will need to be either on the GMC Specialist Register or be eligible for CCT or equivalent within six months. Skills in supervising trainees, teaching junior medical staff, leading a team and communicating with multidisciplinary colleagues are vital. All post holders must be prepared to work across more than one hospital site as part of the managed clinical service.
There’s a welcoming, team based culture here with individuals encouraged and supported to develop their interests. Manchester is a fantastic place to call home with excellent schools and good local, regional and international travel links. We look forward to receiving applications from motivated and ambitious candidates with good experience and training in neonatology and would strongly encourage applicants to come and visit
