University Hospital Birmingham in conjunction with Walsall Healthcare Trust are seeking to appoint 2 Consultant Neurologists to sustain and develop the existing inpatient and outpatients services to provide comprehensive care for the population of Walsall with general and specialist neurological conditions supporting the care closer to home strategy.

Walsall Healthcare currently provides general and specialist neurology services on an outpatient basis and to inpatients admitted for elective and non-elective clinical conditions who require clinical support for their neurological conditions. The clinicians are supported by a team of Clinical Nurse Specialists.

Walsall Healthcare Trust are looking to enhance the service and clinical pathways provided to Walsall residents in conjunction and partnership with University Hospital Birmingham facilitating an optimal service for patients with general and complex specialty neurological conditions and development and peer group support for successful candidates.

The majority of the outpatient clinics and ward rounds will take place at Walsall Healthcare.

Weekly clinics will be undertaken at UHB which would be negotiable and flexible in relation to the specialist interest of the successful candidate and dependant on experience and the needs of the service.

Participation in MDT and CPD will be at University Hospital Birmingham, the regional centre for Neurology

Applicants are invited for Consultant Neurologists who may already have or wish to develop a specialist interest supported by UHB

Essential criteria for the post includes: possession of Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practice; Basic Medical Degree (eg MBBS); entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (Proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview); European Community Rights or CESR; evidence of Higher Specialist Training in Neurology (or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from date of interview); Full MRCP or equivalent; a wide experience of working in Neurology.
