CONSULTANT COMMUNITY PAEDIATRICIAN (10PAs)
Following retirement of the existing postholder we are seeking a Consultant Community Paediatrician to join our small friendly team. The successful candidate will be supported and encouraged to develop a subspecialty interest within the team. You will be responsible for early identification of children with additional needs through preterm follow-up and general developmental clinics; outreach to special schools; and a multidisciplinary clinic. As part of the team you will provide non-urgent child protection assessments (including neglect). We would welcome either those looking for their first consultant post or those with established expertise and would offer supervision, support and encourage additional training to benefit the service.
As a team we also provide assessments for autistic spectrum disorders; epilepsy management in liaison with tertiary specialists at Birmingham Children’s Hospital; and tier 2/3 audiology. We cover the roles of Medical Advisor for Adoption and Fostering and Designated Medical Officer for Special Educational Needs. We work closely with our acute colleagues, and with an excellent multidisciplinary team of therapists. Our services are co-terminous with the local authority, with whom we have good joint working.
There is no on-call commitment with this post.
If you’ve ever dreamt of living in a place which brings together the convenience of living in a city with the lifestyle associated with a home in a rural idyll, Herefordshire is the place for you.
The City of Hereford and surrounding market towns offer a wide variety of lifestyles blending the traditional with the modern. This is a county of contrasts where walkers enjoy breath-taking views, adrenalin seekers rave about our rock faces and river rapids, and connoisseurs of fine food enthuse about the quality of our locally grown produce. Cycling, canoeing, climbing and kayaking sit neatly alongside theatres, art galleries, museums, festivals and more. There’s something for everyone. House prices compare favourably with other areas of the country. There is excellent state education at both primary and secondary school level, including a sixth form college voted ‘Sixth Form College of the Year’ by the Times Educational Supplement in 2016.
We welcome applications for full time, part time or job share working. There may be the possibility of a leadership role within the Trust.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship
Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The UK Visas and Immigration department requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.
From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement.

Applicants must have current UK professional registration. For further information please see applying from overseas.
