Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist (Clinical and Pathology Haematology) - Haematology, Integrated Medicine, Emergency, Child and Youth Services, Cairns Hospital, Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service. Remuneration value up to $412 210 p.a., comprising salary between $199 554 - $216 865 p.a. (F/T) or $98.00 - $103.90 p.h. (P/T) (L25-L27) or Remuneration value up to $376 957 p.a., comprising salary between $171 044 - $198 678 p.a. (F/T) or $81.95 - $95.19 (P/T) (L18-L24), employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%), annual leave loading (17.5%). (Applications will remain current for 12 months).

Duties / Abilities:
This is an exciting opportunity to join an enthusiastic, dedicated team of haematologists, medical colleagues, nurses and allied health professionals. The Staff Specialist, Clinical and Laboratory Haematology will be based in Cairns and will provide an effective and integrated service in Haematology at Cairns Hospital and Pathology Queensland Laboratory, Cairns. The position reports to the Clinical Director, Cancer Care Unit for the provision of Specialist Haematology input to inpatients and to Director of Pathology, PQ Cairns Laboratory. In addition to providing laboratory and clinical haematology services there is the scope for being involved in department planning and helping to guide the department’s strategic direction.
It is a condition of employment for the employee in this role to be, and remain, vaccinated against or non-susceptible to the following Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPDs) during their employment: Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR), Varicella (chicken pox) and Pertussis (whooping cough). Existing staff engaged prior to 1 July 2016 (and have not had a break in service) are not subject to this new condition of employment unless they are moving from one Hospital and Health Service to another Hospital and Health Service within Queensland). Existing staff that have previously submitted this evidence since 1 July 2016 will not be required to resubmit.
It is a condition of employment for the employee in this role to be vaccinated against or not susceptible to Hepatitis B. Proof of vaccination or non-susceptibility is a condition of employment for all staff (new and existing) who have direct contact with patients or who in the course of their work may be exposed to blood/body fluids or contaminated sharps.
