Applications are invited for a Consultant Cellular Pathologist to join our committed and enthusiastic team in supporting the Cellular Pathology department in Leicester. The position will be based at the Glenfield Hospital site, but with the possibility of travel to the Leicester Royal Infirmary for some duties. It is expected that the post holder will work in breast pathology and it is anticipated that approximately 75% of the workload will be in this specialty. Other specialties included in the role will be subject to service requirement, discussion and agreement.

You will work with colleagues within the Cellular Pathology Department to ensure provision of a high quality Pathology service in UHL. Responsibilities will include reporting breast needle core biopsies, mammatome biopsies and fine needle aspirations; dissecting, examining and reporting breast resection specimens (and other histopathology specimens as required); and taking part in multidisciplinary team meetings.

There is no on call commitment in this role. 

You will be expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching (including supervision, training, assessment and appraisal of specialist registrars and biomedical scientists), clinical audit, research and development. You will work within a multidisciplinary team and may also be required to undertake management duties.

The appointment is whole time. Any consultant who is unable for personal reasons to work whole time will be eligible to be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis in consultation with consultant colleagues.

Membership of the Royal College of Pathologists, and full GMC registration with a license to practice is a requirement.
