Consultant Thoracic Surgeon
Applications are invited for a Consultant Thoracic Surgeon post at the Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest in the UK with an annual budget in excess of £500 million. It was formed on 1 April 2006,when two top-rated trusts Queen’s Medical Centre and Nottingham City Hospital merged in order to develop a range of high-quality, sustainable patient services across the two campuses. As a major teaching Trust, NUH enjoys close links with the city’s universities and attracts and develops the highest calibre of staff. It continues to be the hospital of choice for patients, encourages investment and remains at the forefront of research. It has one of the busiest emergency departments in the UK (now a Major Trauma Centre) and has a total of 2,200 hospital beds across both campuses.
The Nottingham Thoracic Surgery Unit provides Thoracic surgery to patients from a wide geographical area in the mid Trent region. The unit works closely with chest physicians. There are well established multidisciplinary teams in lung cancer, sarcoma, mesothelioma and lung volume reduction. There is an onsite radiotherapy/oncology department with Academic Unit of Oncology.
The Unit performs over 600 major thoracic surgical procedures a year The Thoracic unit is expanding the range of minimally invasive procedures performed.
You must possess a UK recognised medical degree and will need to hold full GMC registration, be eligible to be included on the Specialist Register or be within six months, at time of interview, of obtaining a Certificate of Completion of Training.

The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.

All new employees starting work at NUH will be subject to a DBS check and liable for the cost (£47.50 for enhanced, £29.50 for standard, £30 for basic). I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check if it is required (by deduction from first month’s pay).
Should I decide to withdraw from my job offer, I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of the DBS check undertaken by cheque or other agreed method.
