Consultant in Acute Inpatient Psychiatry
Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust seek to appoint a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Acute Mental Health Services.
The Trust’s Acute Mental Health Services provides a range of age appropriate inpatient and urgent community services to adults in Coventry and Warwickshire through an Acute Integrated Practice Unit. The service has close links to partners in Social Care, to local acute services at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire, George Elliot hospital and South Warwickshire hospital and with the third sector. There are well established academic links and opportunities with both Warwick University and Coventry University. The Trust provides clinical teaching experiences to undergraduate students and participates in the local Deanery postgraduate Training scheme.
The Acute services are delivered from 2 main hospital sites, Caludon Centre Coventry and St Michaels Hospital in Warwick together with an Organic illness mental health unit in North Warwickshire.
We believe that high quality consultant appointments are key to providing quality services and ensuring senior clinical leadership. We are looking for self-motivated, enthusiastic, forward thinking individuals who can work within the Trust and with partners to develop a dynamic, responsive and patient centered Acute Mental Health Service.
This vacancy has come about as the result of the substantive incumbent consultant moving to another post.
This post is as Consultant in age independent acute Inpatient Psychiatry to join a team of Consultants providing comprehensive acute mental health services to Coventry & Warwickshire localities; to participate in providing postgraduate training to the Coventry and Warwickshire Junior Doctor Training Scheme and undergraduate education for medical students from Warwick Medical School. You will require leadership and team building skills as well as clinical experience and educational ability. The post is based at the Caludon Centre, Coventry and the postholder will provide Responsible Clinician consultant leadership to a 20 bed acute male treatment ward.
The post is based on a 10 PA job plan.
You will be a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, or have an equivalent postgraduate qualification in Psychiatry, have full GMC Registration, eligibility for inclusion on the Specialist Register in psychiatry, Approved clinician status under the Mental Health Act and a minimum of 6 years postgraduate experience in Psychiatry including substantial training/experience in General Adult Psychiatry .
Must have an appropriate means of independent transport commensurate with the travelling required to fulfil the role
