Applicants are invited to apply for the post of Consultant Rheumatologist at Cannock Chase and New Cross Hospitals. This post has arisen because of retirement.

You will be joining a very large multidisciplinary team where you will be 1 of 10 Consultants. There are currently 15 Clinical Nurse Specialists, 7 Research Nurses, 3 Clinical Fellows, 2 Registrars, 1 Specialty Doctor, 2 FY1, 1 FY2, 1 CMT, 3 GP Registrars, 4 dedicated physiotherapists and occupational therapists plus a team of Ultrasonographers and a Nurse Ultrasonographer in a dedicated Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Unit at Cannock Chase Hospital.

There is also a Rheumatology Nurse-led Day Unit at each site. There are currently 23 administrative members of staff in place to support the clinical teams.

We run specialist clinics for early inflammatory arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, Treat to Target for RA , biologic, connective tis-sue diseases and combined clinics with respiratory, renal, obstetrics, and dermatologists. We are in the process of setting up a combined oph-thalmology clinic for patients with Sjogrens Syndrome. We also run multidisciplinary specialist paediatric and adolescent rheumatology and osteoporosis services. We have a very active clinical trials programme.

This unit has been formed by the merger of New Cross and Cannock Chase Hospitals. We believe that we have taken the best part of both services and integrated them. A recent BSR Peer Review Visit has praised the integration that has occurred since November 2014.

We provide the musculoskeletal module for medical students from Birmingham University. We also have close links with the Academic Institute of Medicine at Wolverhampton University. https://www.wlv.ac.uk/about-us/our-schools-and-institutes/faculty-of-education-health-and-wellbeing/academic-institute-of-medicine/
