Children’s Health Services
Worcestershire

Applications are invited to join a vibrant and enthusiastic team of community paediatricians.

Diagnostic services for neurodevelopmental difficulties including autism and ADHD have been well established for many years in Worcestershire and the new appointee will be expected to contribute both to diagnosis and management of these children. We benefit from three excellent child development centres across the county which provide developmental assessment and intervention groups. There are strong networks for management of children with neurodisabilities with input from the Children’s Hospital in nearby Birmingham as well as other National Centres.

The team has strong links with both education services and children’s social care, with whom we work closely. We provide the designated and named doctor roles for safeguarding, looked after children, SUDIC and education. The successful applicant will inevitably have a role in Safeguarding but it is not anticipated that they will necessarily be named or designated doctor for safeguarding. There is the option to take part in the West Midlands Sexual Assault Service rota.

Enthusiasm and innovation will be welcomed and there will be a degree of flexibility in establishing a role, to complement the special interests and lead roles of the current paediatricians. Contributing to the teaching and supervision of our trainees and specialty doctors will be expected.

We have recently centralised our administrative staff and paediatricians offices to a bespoke building in Droitwich, to facilitate peer support and regular face to face communication with colleagues. Clinical services continue to be delivered in community venues, accessible for patients and their families.

Prospective applicants are welcome to contact one of the following to discuss this post: Dr Alison Rigler – Community Paediatrician and Clinical Director - 01905 681071, Sally-Anne Osborne –SDU Lead Children, Young People & Families and Specialist Primary Care -01905 681567, Marion Davies – Medical and Dental Staffing Manager- 01905 681505.
