Consultant in Public Health – Screening & Immunisation Lead
(Post suitable for both Consultant Medical and AfC Band 8d Appointment)

Pro rata £76,761 - £103,490 (NHS Consultant 2013) or £67,247 - £83,258 (NHS Agenda for Change Band 8D) – dependent on experience and qualifications

Permanent, 7 PAs/26 hours equivalent

PHE East of England is seeking to appoint an additional Screening and Immunisation Lead (SIL) on a permanent basis to support the NHS England Midlands & East (Central Midlands) Screening and Immunisation Team. The role will also include a joint responsibility, shared with two other SILs, for fulfilling the responsibilities of NHS England’s Head of Public Health Commissioning role.

The SIL works with the PHE East of England Deputy Director of Healthcare Public Health and NHS England’s Locality Director to lead a team that is accountable for supporting NHS England in the commissioning of national Screening and Immunisation programmes across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes. Whilst the postholder should be able to cover all the S7a screening and immunisation programmes they will have lead responsibility for the following screening programmes: antenatal and newborn, diabetic eye and abdominal aortic aneurysms. The post is integral to supporting NHS England Central Midlands commissioning team whilst remaining professionally accountable to the PHE National Executive through the East of England PHE Centre. This post will be based within the NHS England offi ces at Charter House, Welwyn Garden City with frequent travel within the geographical area of responsibility and some travel elsewhere as required.

Candidates must be included on the GMC Specialist Registrar with a license to practice or UK Public Health Register (UKPHR).

The successful candidate will be appointed to the point of the Consultant salary scale appropriate to their years of seniority or if from a background other than medicine to Agenda for change Band 8d.
