A post is available immediately as a locum Consultant in Palliative Medicine at Sir Michael Sobell House, Oxford. This 6.5 PA post includes an on call commitment, which attracts a category A availability supplement. The post is available from appointment until the end of March 2019.

Sobell House is an NHS Specialist Palliative Care Service that has served the community of Oxfordshire for over 40 years. It is an integral part of Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUHFT) with substantial additional support being provided by Sobell House Hospice Charity (www.sobellhouse.org). Sobell House is located on the Churchill Hospital site with 18 specialist inpatient beds, outreach teams into the community and acute hospitals, day services, education and research.

The community outreach covers 55 GP practices across Oxfordshire and provides a 7-day triage service. The hospital team cover three of the four OUHFT sites; the John Radcliffe, Churchill and Nuffield Orthopaedic Hospitals. Across Sobell House there is a diverse multidisciplinary team of professionals and volunteers. There are strong links with the University of Oxford and Oxford Brookes University. The Hospice is seeking a capable, enthusiastic doctor who enjoys working in a tertiary referral centre. In addition to superb clinical skills the right doctor will enjoy working in a large team, teaching and quality improvement. The successful candidate will join a team of six consultants, two specialty doctors and four doctors in training (two palliative medicine StRs and two general practice ST trainees). In the interest of equal opportunities, we want to make sure that information about candidates is provided in the same format so all applicants should fill in the standard application form on the NHS Jobs website.

For further information please contact Dr Tim Harrison, Clinical Lead for Palliative Care via Will Johnsen, PA, on Will.Johnsen@ouh.nhs.uk or 01865 225862. Visits to the unit are welcomed and encouraged.
