Our new Northern Care Alliance NHS Group unites five local hospitals to deliver high quality care across the North East of Greater Manchester.

The Alliance provides the benefits of scale but delivers this locally through multiple hospital sites which make up four new Care Organisations - Bury/Rochdale, North Manchester, Oldham and Salford. Using our mantra of ‘Saving lives, Improving lives’, the aim is for our Care Organisations to work closely with the communities they serve to deliver safe, high quality and reliable care, which are trusted, connected and pioneering.

Our Care Organisations are designed to operate within our group arrangement of hospitals, community and healthcare services which bring together over 17,000 staff and the services of The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust. Our size and geographical reach means we are creating an environment each individual will be inspired and empowered by to be the best they can be. This is a really exciting time to join our new team.

This will be an excellent opportunity to join the expanding Urology Directorate at Pennine Acute NHS Trust. Three full time Consultants in Urology are required to join the existing team of Consultants. The post holders may be required to work at any of the Trust sites but will be provided with a base at one site. Two of these posts are newly created to support growing activity levels and split site working and one is a replacement post.

The Directorate has a centralised inpatient service on the North Manchester site, day case procedures on Bury, Rochdale and North Manchester sites and outpatients clinics on all four sites.

The Service has access to modern operating equipment including rigid and flexible ureteroscopes, endoscopic equipment and holmium laser. There are facilities to support a full range of TUR procedures, PCNL and laparoscopic upper tract surgery.

The Urology service has full diagnostic support from the Diagnostic Division with Radiologists and Pathologists specialising in Urology. Interventional Radiology services are available seven days a week. Clinical Oncologists conduct outreach clinics from The Christie Hospital, the region’s tertiary cancer centre. Patients requiring radical pelvic surgery are referred to the local tertiary centre. The Trust also has close links with Salford Royal Infirmary.
