Applications are invited for Consultant Microbiologist appointees to join the Microbiology Consultant team based in North Wales. Public Health Wales provides integrated Microbiology and Health Protection services for the majority of Health Boards in Wales. The North Wales team provides services across three main bases in Bangor, Wrexham and Rhyl with a central hub laboratory in Rhyl. The successful applicant will join a team of five Consultant Microbiologists (27 across Wales) and will be based at one of these sites with on-site support for the central hub laboratory.

There is also the exciting opportunity for a suitable appointee to be considered for the role of Clinical Lead which attracts an additional £10,000 p.a. responsibility payment.

The North Wales Microbiology service incorporates Bacteriology, Serology and Food, Water & Environmental Services. It benefits from a new modern laboratory with the latest automation (Kiestra) and supports a wide range of clinical services across North Wales.

Public Health Wales is implementing regional provision of molecular diagnostics and a national genomics service.

Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of
receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview.

You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales. The basic salary range for this post is £74,393 per annum to £96,583 per annum plus a further £26,148 per annum available in Commitment Awards.
