We are recognised as one of the leading NHS Foundation Trusts in the UK, providing adult services to nearly 700,000 patients every year. The Trust is a regional centre for cancer, trauma, burns & plastics and has the largest solid organ transplantation programme in Europe.

Applications are invited for substantive consultant posts in Clinical Oncology (Breast and GI) and Medical Oncology (Breast and Lung). The posts will be based at University Hospitals Birmingham Foundation Trust with sessional commitments at one other trust where oncology services are provided. The post holder will be responsible for the administrative efficiency of their clinical teams.

The UHBFT Radiotherapy Department sees 4000 new patients per year, has 6 conventional accelerators, 2 Tomotherapy HD machines, plus Cyberknife, deep x-ray, HDR and prostate brachytherapy with the implementation of proton therapy on the horizon. As well as delivering these treatments to all tumour sites UHB Trust has great clinical strengths in neurosurgery and base of skull surgery leading to strong and well developed MDTs. With our partners at Birmingham Children Hospital and the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, we have large practices for paediatric and sarcoma radiotherapy. Birmingham is therefore an excellent place to develop an advanced radiotherapy service to complement these clinical specialties. This process of development is well under way, and through recent investment the majority of national radiotherapy trials are now open in our centre, and we are amongst the leading recruiters to these trials.

Applicants must have full GMC Registration, MRCP or equivalent. Previous experience/training in the required specialities is essential.
