The Trust has a focus on improving the experience of patients, carers and our staff. For the last two years we have been developing a special quality improvement programme that provides our clinical staff, patients and carers with skills to transform our services. We believe that our staff are the organisation’s greatest asset and are the best agents for change.
In 2015 the Trust became responsible for mental health services in Luton and Bedfordshire. In 2016 it was graded as Outstanding by the CQC, as Provider of the Year by the Health Service Journal, as well as being rated the best place to work in Mental Health.
Mental Health and Well-being Services in Bedfordshire have undergone transformative changes over the past four years. We have redesigned our admission and crisis care pathway alongside developing recovery-focused community mental healthcare and primary care interface with a focus on high quality care being delivered at the right time and place. The Directorate’s Quality Improvement programme is growing with high levels of service user involvement, staff satisfaction and encouraging outcomes. Consultant leadership has been central to these developments and having enhanced our consultant numbers locally we now have a range of posts that we wish to recruit to substantively.
This post offers opportunities for development. The successful applicant will access a consultant mentor and will be actively supported in their new role by their Clinical Director. The Trust’s highly valued Quality Improvement Science in Action training is available to all staff with opportunities to train further and become a QI coach. The Directorate is developing academic links and applications from individuals who are interested to pursue research interests are actively encouraged. The Directorate is looking to appoint a substantive consultant psychiatrist to this community mental health teams for adults of working age. This is an established and well-led team with a commitment to continuous improvement and the delivery of high quality patient care. We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic consultant with strong interpersonal skills and experience of working at the interface with primary care.
