Clinical Research Fellows
This is an exciting opportunity for Doctors considering a career in Otolaryngology to gain specialist clinical experience whilst undertaking a structured programme of education in professional practice and research, organised jointly by Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust and Edge Hill University.
The post is available from August 2018 for the period of the postgraduate course, which will usually be two years. This will be subject to satisfactory appraisals every six months. Throughout the programme NHS Consultants and senior staff will mentor the Fellows.
Appointment carries a requirement to register for the MCh – Master of Surgery (Otorhinolaryngology) Programme with Edge Hill University.
Course fees are included in the total cost of provision, which incorpo-rates access to clinical facilities and work programmes.
The tuition fee for the entire programme is £16,000. This is payable in three instalments of £4,000 between September 2018 and July 2020.
This full time time post is at middle grade level and will comprise 10 clinical sessions with the rest free to devote to study/research. The annual salary will be on the first year of the Specialty Doctor payscale and will be paid at 12 PA’s and will include participation in the full-shift rota (1 in 7, 2nd on call).
The candidate will be exposed to all aspects of Otolaryngology-head & neck surgery. 4 consultants, 1 ST, 1 staff grade and 3 FY/CT’s in addition to the 2 clinical fellows, staff the department.
Rotations with other hospitals in the region are in place and will allow candidates to move to a different department for the 2nd year of the rotation, if desired.
