Consultant Neonatologist X 2
ABMU Health Board
Singleton Hospital, Swansea
We are looking for two ambitious and enthusiastic Consultant Neonatologists to join our friendly, dynamic, innovative and award winning team at Singleton level 3 NICU. Singleton NICU provides a full range of neonatal critical care services for South West Wales – an area with a birth rate of approximately 10,000 per year.
Our unit has recently been refurbished to very high standards including one of the best family accommodations in Wales. We nurture a very pleasant working environment and are passionate about providing the highest standard of care. The unit has excellent benchmarked outcomes and is recognised for high quality innovative practices including programmes on antibiotic stewardship, family integrated care, neurodevelopmental follow up programme and predictive monitoring. The unit was the recipient of the 2017 NHS Wales Award for ‘Improving Quality Together’ methodology of quality improvement.
Singleton is a University Teaching Hospital allied to the College of Medicine at the rapidly expanding Swansea University and one of the two higher specialist training units in neonatal medicine in Wales. We have consistently been rated highly in GMC junior doctors’ surveys. There are excellent teaching and collaborative research opportunities with Swansea and Cardiff Universities.
Swansea is Wales’ second largest city, a short drive away from the world renowned Gower peninsula, the UK’s first designated area of outstanding natural beauty. Swansea provides a culturally rich environment with a superb work-life balance which is ideal for family life. Excellent public and independent schools are available.
You will work exclusively in Neonatology and will provide clinical leadership for the department as well as advice to allied specialties and sister units within the neonatal network. A part of your role will be to provide resident consultant cover for the unit and participation in the regional neonatal transport service. You will be part of a team committed to providing excellent clinical care, teaching and training & leadership in quality improvement and research programmes.
