Consultant in Medicine for the Elderly
Applications are invited for a Consultant post in Medicine for the Elderly at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our recently expanded clinical team and participate in the development of clinical services for older adults in Cambridgeshire.
This is an exciting time for the Department of Medicine for the Elderly. We are in the process of expanding our department, and are particularly interested in developing innovative processes of care for our patient population. We currently provide specialist care on a Frailty and Acute Medicine for the Elderly ward, five ‘Core’ Medicine for the Elderly wards, one of which has been redesigned as a specialist Delirium Unit, and an Orthogeriatric Unit. We have developed a rapid access service for GPs (RADAR), and a trust-wide specialist geriatric liaison team (SAFE).
This post will offer opportunities for working across a range of clinical settings including core Medicine for the Elderly wards and the Frailty and Acute Medicine for the Elderly ward. It will also support the development of our Flagship Frailty Pathway with expansion of our specialist Ambulatory Care Service and intensification of front-door CGA. Support would be given for the development of sub-speciality interest. Successful candidates will be able to join a waiting list to participate in the General Medicine (GIM) on-call rota if desired.
The post is open to applicants with geriatrics speciality training. Applicants are required to be on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time of interview.
