*3 further pay points of up to £142, 453 are available by application and depending on experience and discretion.

The role of Consultant in Palliative Medicine is required to join a team that works in partnership between Jersey Hospice Care, Jersey General Hospital and the local GP community. As part of the service design for future health and social care services Jersey is looking to enhance palliative care provision. The successful applicant for this newly established post will have responsibility for providing medical consultant leadership for adult specialist palliative care and end of life care services. The post holder will work across both Jersey Hospice and Jersey General Hospital and in partnership with local GP’s supported via the Primary Care Body. The post presents an exciting opportunity to shape further development of the specialist palliative and end of life care services for the Island. Both organisations are committed to lifelong learning, teaching and training of palliative care across the wider community and the aim to improve the ‘once chance we have to get it right’ for our local residents.
The Palliative Care Team reflects a medical model comprising of Associate Specialist and Staff Grade roles within the Jersey Hospice Inpatient Unit supplemented by Specialist Palliative Care provision in the community and the general hospital delivered by a team of Clinical Nurse Specialists.
Full travelling expenses are paid from a UK port of entry for attending interviews, with a generous £8,000 relocation package available as well as the appointee taking advantage of Jersey taxation policies. The post attracts a licence for work under local residential qualifications and Jersey has excellent affordable private education for children. Under Jersey Law, applicants must possess FULL registration with the General Medical Council and hold a licence to practise.
The States of Jersey and Jersey Hospice care are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable people (to include children) and require all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. As this position will work with vulnerable people, the selection process will involve safeguarding measures and include an enhanced DBS check.
