Locum Consultant General Paediatrician with an interest in haematology/ oncology/ bone marrow transplantation (10 PAs)
Applications are invited for a Locum 10 PA Consultant General Paediatrician with an interest in haematology/ oncology/ bone marrow transplantation based at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) within the International and Private Patients Division (IPP).
GOSH is a national centre of excellence in the provision of specialist children's health care, currently delivering the widest range of specialist care of any children's hospital in the UK. It is the only specialist Biomedical Research Centre for paediatrics, the largest centre in the UK for children with heart or brain problems, and the largest centre in Europe for children with cancer. It works in partnership with the UCL Institute of Child Health (ICH), part of University College London, and together they form the largest paediatric research and teaching centre in the UK. The Centre for Children’s Rare Disease Research is due to open in 2018. As one of the top five children’s hospitals, GOSH receives international referrals for its quaternary expertise.
There are currently two General Paediatric Consultants based in IPP (1.4 WTE). This third Consultant post supports the growth of the IPP division. The clinical team of 11 Trust Fellows and 3 Consultant General Paediatricians in IPP support the specialty Consultants of GOSH in delivering care to inpatients and outpatients with conditions encompassing the majority of the 51 specialty services offered by the Trust.
The International and Private Patients division has three wards; Bumblebee (21 beds), Butterfly (22 beds) and Hedgehog (10 beds). In addition Caterpillar is a busy outpatient service (17,600 outpatient reviews last year) which also serves as an acute review service for IPP patients.
The successful applicant will be based in the IPP Division and as part of the integrated General Paediatric team, within Charles West, will also participate in the “Attending Consultant” delivered service which works across the Trust, focusing on patient safety, promoting efficient patient pathways and providing general paediatric training and support. The post holder will be expected to work closely with the current Safeguarding Team of nurses, Social Services and other allied external agencies. Job planning will be conducted within the General Paediatric team.

The basic salary range for this post is £76,001 to £102,465 pro rata, per annum plus £2,162 pro rata, per annum London Weighting.
