About the team/role
Genetic Health Service NZ (GHSNZ) is a national multidisciplinary clinical and diagnostic Genetic Service. CCDHB provides two Hubs for GHSNZ, based in Christchurch (South Island Hub) and Wellington (Central Hub). The two Hubs provide clinical genetics services to 50% of the population of NZ, from Taranaki in the North Island to Invercargill at the southern tip of the South Island. Clinical staff in the two Hubs are part of the national service and work closely with colleagues in the Northern Hub based in Auckland.
We seek a qualified clinical geneticist to join our Christchurch based clinical team.
The position is permanent, part-time - breakdown below:
• Clinical FTE: 0.875 (35 hours)
• Travel FTE: (10%): 0.0875 (3.5 hours)
• Total FTE:0.9625 (38.5 hours)
You should be able to demonstrate broad training experience in all aspects of clinical genetics, and additional experience in Genomics Medicine would be advantageous. You will participate in our extensive outreach clinic program, and there may also be opportunities to engage with our local laboratory providers and to participate in providing educational activities.

Capital and Coast DHB (CCDHB) is located centrally in Wellington and has the equivalent of around 4,300 full time staff, making us a major employer in the Wellington region and support a population of about 900,000 people. Our DHB has an annual budget of more than $1 billion, which we use to deliver health services directly and contract external providers to provide care, such as general practices, rest homes and pharmacists.
CCDHB has a small number of Christchurch based employees. GHSNZ South Island Hub is hosted by Canterbury District Health Board (CDHB) and based at Christchurch Hospital which is currently undergoing a substantial building programme with new facilities opening in 2018/9. Christchurch is New Zealand's second largest city, currently re-emerging from the 2010-2011 earthquakes to be a vibrant, modern city with plenty of attractions for both enthusiasts of city living and those that enjoy easy access to the numerous outdoor pursuits nearby. Christchurch is located on the East coast of the South Island and provides a high quality lifestyle for both old and young.

Applicants must be qualified as a medical practitioner, with an MBChB or equivalent, and have completed specialty training (FRACP or equivalent). You should also be registered or eligible for registration by the Medical Council of New Zealand in the Vocational Scope of Clinical Genetics.
This position will be covered by the terms and conditions included in the Multi Employer Collective Agreement (MECA) for Senior Medical Staff of CCDHB.
Skills and experience:

• Experience at SMO / consultant level in Clinical Genetics
