Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with special interest Cancer Unit Lead (10 PAs)

Applications are invited for a replacement full-time post to continue to support the well-established Cancer Unit service at SWBH to include colposcopy and vulval disease.
The Trust is one of the largest Teaching Trusts in the UK, employing 6500 staff, serving a population of over 500,000 and having around 1000 beds. In partnership with local commissioning groups and Local Authorities the Trust is seeking to deliver an ambitious redevelopment of local health services including new models of care and facilities. The plan includes a new state of the art acute hospital (the Midland Metropolitan Hospital) which is set to begin construction in 2016. This will create some of the largest clinical teams in the country, including a new, large single-site Maternity Unit.
The Trust is fully committed to continuing to develop its Maternity Services, which have recently received CNST Level 3 recognition. As such, it has invested significantly in the Directorate and will continue to do so to promote an exceptional standard. The successful applicants will be joining a dynamic, evolving team which is driven to develop excellence of service for women.
All maternity services are provided for at City Hospital, approximately 6000 deliveries per year, where there is a large level 2+ NNU and full capability to provide HDU/ITU care to our mothers where required. There is a nationally recognized co-located midwifery-led birthing unit within City Hospital Maternity Unit and a sister, stand-alone unit sited in Sandwell. The Fetal Medicine Unit was newly developed and equipped in 2010 and provides a full range of FM diagnostic and screening services. The unit has well established links to allied regional services such as clinical genetics, paediatric cardiology and surgery. Antenatal care is based on a specialist multidisciplinary clinic model with clinics being staffed by dual consultants.
There are 5 dedicated obstetricians and currently 13 other consultants in obstetrics and gynaecology at City Hospital. The Directorate has 98 hours consultant presence on delivery suite.
Applicants for this post are required to have CCT or equivalent (or within 6 months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT, at the time of interview) and entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Obstetrics and Gynaecology; full GMC registration, MRCOG (or equivalent) and RCOG ATSM qualification in Cancer Unit Lead and hold BSCCP Colposcopy Accreditation are essential.
